Poppy

coming up to the 1 year mark of Patrick's disappearance, still sad i miss him and will always wonder what happened.

I did have a scare this past month and more. I got home from work and heard something under my bed. thinking "Ok someone is asleep in the storage box,"

after a few minutes i felt fur touching my ankle and thought 'wow Dash is getting braver he is finally touching me, ' then i get a better look and no it was not Dash but a stranger cat.

She is a very pretty Maine Coon mix kitty and NO i cannot keep her totally not fair. she does not like the resident kitties and they are not crazy about the 'growler' I have been calling her Poppy since she just popped up. putting a note on her did not work since she stayed hidden in my house. Finally i put a note up at the shelter and have been waiting for a call. worrying that she might be pregnant and not just fat.

today i got home from work and there was a message on the phone. it seems Pumpkin slipped out from her foster family and has been missing. No i do not want her!!! she is sweet but i have my paws full already.

Robbert E Leroy day

My Robber peacefully asleep in his mosquito net tent, He can be almost invisible when there. I will hunt and go crazy trying to find him. finally see a ripple of movement in the net and there he is blissfully dreaming. My Robert E Leroy may look like a MC cat but he is not, at barely 7lbs this spunky little punk of a cat has the look and the attitude but none of the characteristics of a coonie.

this my little Rockstar is a gem of a kitty, he is social to other cats loves to invite his groupies over and have me feed them. he has quite the cadre now. Dash and Oliver are his main Buds and they pick on the girls usually Gabrielli but sometimes Moira, they know better than to mess with Isolde, Lu and Lakota would take 'em down.

He started off as a foundling in Modesto and i got him by accident he was a replacement kitty for my Sebastien who ended up with FIP his sister Lusitania is the only survivor of that litter.

I guess i was meant to have Robber instead, my only request to the group that had adopted out 'Bastien was 'i want a red boy', Robbie is my only red boy and i love the little flying squirrel that he turned out to be. it has taken him a few years but now he will sleep near my cheek and beg for scratches. he is terrified of men and being taken anywhere. He is a great help in bringing out scared kitties that come here. he was the one who got Dash to venture out of the back room and finally trust me enough to take care of his feet. that is a story for another day.

vacation

today is the first day of my vacation.

i have an entire week to do with as i please.

i can knit,

i can go to the beach,

i can play with the colony.

i can even get serious about my photography

Birthday baby

It's almost my Isolde's B-Day she will be 14 on Feb 13.

a bit about my Isolde, she was born in a cattery of a lady who got sick, she could no longer care for them and her daughter could not be bothered. finally a complaint went out to animal control and these beautiful cats were going to all be put down.

Someone stepped in and promised to clean it up and find homes for the cats. This is when my friend discovered them and adopted 2. a boy who became Tristan and a girl who is still with me. these 2 kitties have traveled to Georgia and back to California.

eventually the two were separated and Isolde became mine. she has learn to love travelling to the beach mountain roads are a favourite with her. she realised that the harness and lead meant she had control of me and i went were she wanted to go. snow was also fun for her when she was younger not so much now as she has a touch of arthritis.

Isolde is a social kitty she would visit with the street kitties, and for a while her brother came back to live with us, unfortunately Tris is no longer with us, someone poisoned him one halloween and i learned then that it is not just Black cats that are tortured by sick people. Our beautiful Tris looked like the cat in the TV show Charmed. and i think that had a lot to do with him being targeted he was to friendly for his own good.

we slid into depression rather badly and i was tricked into taking on another cat who i named Puma (also no longer with us) when we lost the second boy Isolde went into sever depression and i could not be with her as i was going in for surgery and had to spend a week in the hospital.

one thing lead to another thanks to wendyknits.net and her link to petinders.com i got my girl more companions so she is never alone, unless she wants to be. so tomorrow the beach with my baby

YARN

I seem to do this every year at this time. I order yarn, and it is usually wool. My current addiction is Malabrigo worsted, chunky, and silky. this has got to be the softest wool i have held. and now i know why i avoided getting it in the first place: totally addictive.

Moira has claimed a hank for herself it seems in the merino silky nocturnal. i need to find more of the colourway i anly have 3 hanks which might get a scarf/hat combo but not much else but now i am thinking off a hood into scarf but maybe not, and not the common one that i used to make 8 years ago which was a strip folded inhalf and the fold end stitched back to make a cap with long tails to be wrapped around.

thinking is a bad thing for me as i start focusing on improbable solutions and sometimes succeeding

Oliver or rather Oskar depending on who you are talking too seems to be a keeper. From being dumped in a parking lot left to starve he is now part of the tribe.

I am trying to have a moretoreum on ordering Bra's i think i have enough for a while now i need to watch what i spend on the clothing aspect of Bravissimo.com . I guess what is most in my favour with that is i am inbetween and just outside of their size range. This also makes me cry as they have such sweet dresses and tops.

and please don't say the 'Y' word i am so overbudget in my yarn consumption and they are bringing out some really killer stuff.

i have ordered a couple of skeins of Malabrigo silky merino in Nocturnal only 3 were remaining so what ever i knit in Moira's name will be small either a hat or shawl. this is definatly her yarn as she immediatly started to play with it straight out of the bag.

i bought 6 in the worsted merino colourway called lime/blue i think this will be for Lakota.

5 of whales road for Lusitania -thats all i could find.

the Fleece artist samira silk in the topaz colourway will be for Isolde it matches her eyes.

this leaves the berrocco seduce in vertigris for Gabrielli.

projects

it seems i like to bite off a lot. it started with a tribute sweater to my little Octavia, and has turned into something so much more. i am now designing a Gabrielli top, and a LuLu sweater. Isolde and Moira will get a design as well they are simmering in the back of my brain. but the other two are sketched out and yarn waiting.

as to the Octavia i need to rework the sleeves - take them up, then lengthen, and i must not forget the border to be put on the neck line to prevent over exposer. after all she was a shy girl not a wench.
